Short Story in the Waterloo Collection

I am thrilled to have a short story in the Waterloo Collection, an anthology of some of the stories (from adults and children) submitted to a recent competition. All the stories were to take place during the days leading up to the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Since my novel, Dangerous Deceit, takes place in 1813 and mentions the Napoleonic Wars, I was very keen to try this competition. My story, 'Dancing into Battle', was one of the Highly Commended prize winners in third place.

The Collection was launched last weekend in Devon by Professor Richard Holmes, an expert on Waterloo, and he has written the foreword and signed the book. Evidently, the standard of competition entries was so high that they decided to publish some of the stories. The Collection is to raise funds for Project Huogoumont, in the hope of restoring the dilapidated farm on the site of the Battlefield in Belgium, in time for the 200th anniversary of Waterloo in 2015.

It's a stunning cover, isn't it? Copyright of the cover art remains with artist Chris Collingwood, having been granted permission for it by 'Project Hougoumont' .

Congratulations on your inclusion Rosemary. It's good to hear about Professor Richard Holmes involvement, considering the sad news today of his death.

Thanks, Carol - and for letting me know about Prof Holmes. I didn't know, so I'll treasure the book even more.

That is wonderful, Rosemary. I didn't see where I could purchase a copy on the Project website. Is it available in the US? (As a fellow history fan, I would love to read these tales.)

Hi Jude - thanks for visiting. I'll try and find out more for you. This was a special First Edition for the some of the entrants to the competition. But I suspect it will go on general sale at some point - will let you know.

Wow, I love that cover. It is beautiful. I'm a nut on Napoleon too. My last paranormal regency romance "My Angel, My Light As Darkness Falls" is set on the eve of the last battle with Napoleon. He was an exceptional commander, lover, a charismatic personality with a really bad complex. I love the whole period before and after this horrific battle.
