I've just been reading a very interesting post about
Corsets, Whalebones and Waist-whittlers on multi-published author Freda Lightfoot's blog and thought I'd provide a link to it, since it's a subject that interests most historical novelists. It's a fascinating insight into these often highly uncomfortable aids to a particular female shape through the different centuries.

We need to do a lot of excercise to get the same posture that earlier women got from wearing corsets, so perhaps there were some advantages...
