Happy Hogmanay and Auld Lang Syne

Wishing everyone a very happy New Year when it comes. Today is our Scottish Hogmanay when traditional music, dancing and fireworks will light up many a town or village. I couldn't resist posting the above photo - I took it on a misty day looking across the river. For me it encapsulates the romance of Scotland.

I'll be bringing in the New Year with my family - a meal at the local inn first, then waiting for the 'bells' at midnight to toast 2011 with a wee dram (or a drink of some kind if you don't drink whisky). We'll probably send my son outside the house so he can come back in and be our first foot - he looks the necessary part: tall, dark and handsome!

I'm sure Robert Burns' famous words will be sung or spoken in many parts of the world tonight.

"Should auld acquaintance be forgot?
And never brought tae mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot?
For auld lang syne."

I hope you get to "tak a cup o' kindness" with someone you love tonight.

A guid New Year to one and all.
Romy
